Probably one of the largest showcaves in the world! and we had our own private guide for the day to take us around the bits the tourists don't see. Apparently the cave used to get about 1 million visitors a year, but with the war in Bosnia, it's now down to 300 000, quite a drop.

We started our trip after the train (yes that's right) left the station 'cos our guide didn't want us to get run over, as the first bit is along the tracks. After a short walk we came to a largish chamber, that had chandeliears on the walls, this was because in the last century this used to be a Ball room! We then walked off the track and onto the non-touristy bits, with bits of river cave, little lakes, big chambers and nice decorations. We were then showed a stal that had some surveyors signature scrawled on it, from a previous century.

We were then taken to the main chamber, and back onto the tourist route, for a snack break. As we milled around the bar we marvelled at the size of the cavern and the fact that it is used as a concert hall and can seat about 10000 people.

Our guide for the day then took us around the tourist bits and on to some more of the cave, along the Pivka (pronounced puker) I think. Then it was time to wonder back and catch the train home.
